Graco My Ride 70 Convertible Car Seat

Another convertible car seat in the Graco My Ride lineup is the My Ride 70.  If you’ve already read my review on the Graco My Ride 65 I’m going to save you some right now, you can thank me later of course, the MyRide 70 is the same as the My Ride 65 DLX, the ONLY difference is it maxes out at 70 lbs instead of 65.  Now you can scroll down to price and see which one is better price wise. What are the Pros of the Graco My Ride 70?

  1. Weight and Height limits – Graco was the first company to introduce the 40 lb rear facing limit which is great since its now recommended kids stay rear facing until 2 years old, the My Ride has a lot of space to grow with your child.
  2. Side-impact protection – meets all US safety standards in crash testing to keep children safe in the event of an accident.
  3. EPS, energy absorbing foam – absorbs crash energy to minimize force to the child.
  4. Cup holders! – two cup holders, two cup holders!  I had to say it twice since there’s two right?  This is not an extra, not as add-on, the two cup holders come standard and are easily removable and dishwasher safe.  Let’s all just thank Graco for this one.
  5. LATCH system – makes installation easy.
  6. Colors and machine washable – the design of Graco car seats really fits my personal style, it’s clean and simple, also the cover is machine not hand wash which is nice time saving feature.
  7. Infant body support – supports baby’s head and torso and is reversible for 2 different color options.

And the Cons?

  1. Additional padding – some parents with larger babies have noted that the additional padding that come with the seat didn’t work well for them and they had to use a wash cloth or something else to provide support.
  2. LATCH system – I know, this is above in the pros as well, and while LATCH does make it easier, this model uses harnesses for their latch which can cause some difficulty, and a push button release system might be easier, but again more expensive and in comparison with models that do have the push button release, were saving money here.
  3. Crotch buckle – a common complaint is that there’s only one setting on the crotch buckle so with infants it just leaves a space that’s too big and causes them to slouch.

How do consumers rate it?

The My Ride 70 comes in at 4.6 out of 5 stars, a nice score.  Many parents love the extra 5 lb wiggle room the 70 offers in comparison to the My Ride 65.

What’s it going to cost?

Pretty much everywhere I looked the price came out to a solid $243, my favorite color option is the Wynwood option, with reversible pattern and solid black infant pillow.

The Bottom Line

If you’re trying to decide between this and the Graco My Ride 65 DLX, they are almost identical so I’d go for which ever you can get the better price on in the color choice you want, check 65 DLX and 70 prices here.

They’re both affordable options especially when compared to other leading brands since they do lack some of the ease of use and additional safety features other brands like Britax offer.  Look at my Britax reviews to compare, but if that’s not a concern for you the Graco My Ride is solid car seat at a manageable price point.
